CRUSHING IT, YEAH! (How To Do More In Less Time & Win The Day)
Ever wanted to know why 24-hours seem to last way longer for Beyoncé or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's than they do for you?
No, you're not crazy.
Scratch that. You probably are.
Crazy is practically a requirement for entrepreneurs, but I digress.
In today's article, let's chat about how to do more in less time and completely crush each and every day within your business.
Let's chat about a common misconceptions about doing more in less time.
Doing more in less time is not about time management.
It's about time control.
Busy people try to manage time. Entrepreneurs control their time, and create more of it in the process.
Think about it.
Do you want to manage something, or control it? Do you want to manage your business, or control it? Do you want to manage your sales, or control them?
If you think managing your time, your sales or your business is the same thing as control, STOP READING THIS ARTICLE!
Because until you can see the clear distinction between the two, and that successful people control their time rather than manage, no amount of advice I share will help you.
HOWEVER, if you get that the "secret sauce" to success starts with CONTROL...keep reading.
DO MORE IN LESS TIME, TIP #1: MICRO SECONDS = MACRO WINS
The best place to start getting control of your time so you can do more in less time, starts with what my husband calls "microseconds".
It starts with analyzing everything you do throughout the day. And I mean, everything.
- How much TV you watch.
- How long you took that phone call.
- Stopped to talk with Danielle about upcoming projects – how long were you talking?
- Grabbed lunch – great; how long did it take you to drive to/from, eat and get back to your desk?
You're analyzing every second, minute of your day in this part of the process.
"Holy sh! That seems excessive, Sara."
You're absolutely right. But if you thought running a successful business was anything but excessive, baby boo, you got in the wrong business.
Once you analyze your current time usage, you can see exactly where you can shave off seconds/minutes from each activity.
Now, you're positioning yourself to control your time instead of (barely) managing it.
P.S. - THE ONLY WAY THIS WORKS IS IF YOU'RE HONEST WITH HOW YOU SPEND YOUR TIME.
When I began implementing my husband's "Micro Seconds" time control process, I was SHOCKED 😱 at the amount of time I was wasting.
In fact, there was one week in particular where I was able to shave off nearly 6 whole hours.
That means I just gave myself 6, whole hours to:
- make more sales calls
- follow up with more prospects via email
- reach out to more of our Academy members
- help Brandon construct new campaigns for our clients
- refine our re-engagement campaign for our own business
- get in more training for myself
Every micro second you take from a "busy" activity, is a micro second you can add to a income productive activity.
Every micro-second = a macro win at the end of each day, and ultimately, each week.
DO MORE IN LESS TIME, TIP #2: STRUCTURE YOUR DAY
Another insider's tip to do more in less time, comes in the form of structuring out your day.
When Brandon + I first started our consulting company, we found ourselves drowning in client fulfillment.
By the end of the day, we had nothing left to put into growing our business.
It was a nasty cycle of producing 12-16 hours a day to complete projects for our clients, and (if we were lucky) only 1-2 hours focused on growing ourselves.
TO STRUCTURE OUT YOUR DAY, THINK ABOUT:
- What you have to do each day to grow your business.
- What you have to do each day on behalf of your clients
- What you need to do to continue being valuable to your market (i.e. - training, learning)
Once you have your core activity groups broken down, now you can create "time blocks".
Break your day into, in this example, three blocks: Marketing, Customer Fulfillment and Closing.
Within each of your blocks, dedicate how much time you're giving to each activity for that day. Then? STICK TO THE TIME BLOCK!
If you give yourself 1-hour for following up with prospects over the phone, stick to the hour.
If you happen to finish the activity early, move to the next one.
The best thing you can do, is keep your momentum going. A business that's in motion, stays in motion.
Know what I'm sayin'? 😉

"HOW TO DO MORE IN LESS TIME" - THE WRAP UP
Now that you've got the behind-the-scenes look into how Brandon and I are able to do more in less time, it's time to implement for yourself.
- focus on microseconds
- analyze everything you're doing throughout the day
- review the time you spend
- strategically "shave off" any unnecessary busyness
- structure out your day's main "must do's"
- give each "must do" a time block – stick to it!
Don't forget to celebrate your wins. Going from managing your time to controlling it, is a huge victory in and of itself.
When you win the day, give yourself a pat on the back...and then do that sh-! again tomorrow. Because as my husband says,
"Yesterday's home runs don't count towards today's at bat!"
